1.03 Safe to install
The CNC Blue application enables users to manage a 3-axis CNC milling machine via an Arduino CNC shield connected to an appropriate Bluetooth module for iOS devices, operating at a baud rate of 9600.
This application features G-code generation modules, allowing the creation of various shapes including circles, polygons, stars, rectangles, arcs, gears, and spirals. Some of these modules offer advanced functionalities such as 'cut inside' and 'cut deep' options, ensuring versatility in machining tasks.
Users have the ability to select the cutting tool diameter, tailoring the machining process to specific requirements. An additional feature is the Draw module, which enables users to translate their screen-drawn designs into milling paths with an adjustable depth of cut function. It is essential to calculate the CNC working area beforehand to ensure that the drawing fits appropriately within this space.
All generated G-codes can be saved to a file named after the respective module. To save G-codes, users simply need to activate the "save all calculations to files" option from the settings menu. Furthermore, there is a sharing feature available for the generated G-codes.
Users can send received G-code files to Arduino via Bluetooth using the dedicated send page; simply load the .nc file. All generated G-codes are automatically transferred to this page, requiring only a tap of the send button to initiate CNC milling by sending the code to Arduino through the established Bluetooth connection.
The application also allows sharing of all .nc files via AirDrop, email, and other platforms accessible from the Files page. Additionally, modules such as polygon, star, rectangle, arc, draw, gear, and spiral include a 3D view function that visually represents the created design in three dimensions.
Important: The CNC Blue application includes a Stop button; however, for safety reasons, it is critical to utilize a dedicated emergency stop button connected directly to your Arduino CNC shield when necessary.
The setting of a baud rate of 9600 is crucial for effective communication between the application and Grbl via the Bluetooth module. Users must modify Grbl's baud rate in the config.h file accordingly.
To adjust the baud rate to 9600:
- Locate the Arduino Grbl "config.h" file at "documents/arduino/libraries/grbl/config.h".
- Change the line to #define BAUD_RATE 9600.
For proper connection of your Bluetooth module to the Arduino CNC shield:
- Connect Bluetooth module "TX" to Arduino CNC shield "RX".
- Connect Bluetooth module "RX" to Arduino CNC shield "TX".
- Connect Bluetooth module "VCC" to Arduino CNC shield "3V3".
- Connect Bluetooth module "GND" to Arduino CNC shield "GND".
Correct pin connections are essential for protecting both your Arduino-CNC shield and Bluetooth module from damage.
